SEO – the one concept that certainly haunts every new internet marketer! So many people ask me about SEO every day, and inquire whether they will be able to learn it on their own or should they hire an SEO expert for their website. I always tell them they can do it themselves as long as they learn properly, but many people seem to be skeptical about this idea.
That is exactly the reason I decided to write this detailed article today as to how you can learn about SEO. As weird as this may sound to a beginner, trust me, you do NOT need to be an expert in order to do the SEO for a small new business. Yes, you need to learn about a few things and do the stuff systematically, but you don’t have to hire an SEO company to manage your new website – not now at least.
Why you DON’T need to be an expert to learn about SEO
So here is the basic thing that you need to know in order to get rid of the suspicion and the second-thoughts about whether you can do this yourself: NO ONE knows the real Google algorithm.
While there are many techniques that big SEO companies use in order to get a high ranking on search engines, no one actually knows what popular search engines like Google use to rate websites. It is all a matter of guessing, and the techniques used are all the same around the web. There is no SEO company that has a secret technique to make you rank higher; at the end of it, they are just using the same techniques that I will introduce to you as SEO tips for beginners. So in a nutshell, you basically need to spend some sufficient time and effort and learn about SEO. Do your research on it, find a mentor, be determined that you are going to do this for your website yourself and, trust me, you will save so much time and money!
So, now that we know that modern SEO is simple and that you in fact can learn about SEO on your own, let us look at the basic things that you need to learn about. Whether you are working online alone through your own research or with a mentor, these are the SEO tips for beginners that you should keep in mind, and should be the things that you should know exactly how to do towards the end of your learning process.
Write content with keywords
This is one of the basics, but there are still many who do it wrong. The thing about keyword research is that it can either make your website or break it; you will either think it is great or that it is useless! Trust me, it is the former but only when you learn about SEO and figure out how to do it right. So train yourself in modern SEO and look up SEO tips for beginners.
For example, learn how to search for keywords and how to figure out which ones are the best for you; find specific keywords for your website and check the competition for them; choose words that are easy to target and describe your business the best.
And then use these to write good quality content. Make sure you incorporate keywords smartly and not stuff your content with them. Like I always say, value comes first!
Make your website easy to understand
Easy navigation is the key. Many people learn about SEO but forget to make their website simple. You need to know that modern websites are supposed to be really simple; you don’t need all those fancy designs anymore. A congested website will get you nowhere. So when you are done with your website, one of the best SEO tips for beginners is to sit back, take a break, and then come back to your site and look at it from a reader’s point of view… Is it easy to understand? Can you easily find all that you need? Is there useless information? Is there too much content to navigate through?
You will need to answer all of these to make sure your website is optimized.
Expand and link your platforms
Often, we focus on one method of getting traffic and forget the others, believing that this might complicate stuff. However, the best thing I have learnt is to link all the platforms that I use. Do you write a blog? Link that with your Facebook page and share your blogposts there. Link it to your Twitter and inform people whenever there is something new to look out for. Many experts say that your website tends to show up on Google more easily if it is being accessed through different platforms. For example, if the same blog post is present on your website, your Facebook and your Twitter, it will be easier for search engines to pick it up. Also, the correlation will help you get more followers!
Get mentioned on different websites
Lastly, one of the most important things many people forget when they learn about SEO… Contacts! This business is all about that. While you must provide value and do your best to help your readers and potential customers, you also need to make sure you have a significant presence around the web, and this only comes from contacts.
So link your website to other sites and get mentioned by them. You can even collaborate with other sites; share their content and get them to share yours. Another great idea is to get reviewed on popular websites and forums and get a good reputation from there.
Remember that being mentioned around the web is extremely important when you are branding yourself and not a certain product or business. For instance, I need people to know about ANISA AYNASHE and the more that name is mentioned on different websites, the better it will be for my SEO!
So yes… For those of you who are always scared about managing this alone, trust me, you can do it! All you have to do it learn about SEO from the right sources and get the best SEO tips for beginners from people whose expertise you trust. By the end of it, it is all about finding the best solutions for yourself and figuring out what makes YOUR business flourish!
