It is not surprising for people to complete ignoring content marketing, primarily because there are so many alternatives out there now. If they have money, they would rather just put up Ad Banners or Facebook Ads instead of making the effort to create content in order to drive traffic. So when people ask me whether they really need a detailed content marketing plan, what do I say?
YES! You do.
Over the years I have learnt that content is one thing you never, never compromise on, and that online content marketing is one of the best things you will come across. I personally did not see my business flourish until I seriously sat down to make a content marketing plan and followed it to the T. Let me show you why.
Why do you need a content marketing plan?
I could go on an on about the benefits, but let me mention a few that you might not usually think of.
It gives weight to your page
Let’s say you decide to drive people in with advertisements… and then what? If you don’t have a content marketing plan, you are probably planning to drive people in with ads and lead them straight to your product’s ad. This is a big NO! If you don’t have useful content to share with people, your website is nothing more than an advert and you are no one other than an advertiser. To be an entrepreneur, you need to connect with them and provide them with useful information. This is where online content marketing will aid you!
It gives you a voice
For a successful small online business, communication is they key. you need to be able to connect with your readers and let them know who you are. Right now, you are reading this from me. You know that a person sat down to write this information for you, and it is a way of conversing. On the other hand, if you were led straight to an ad page, would you connect with me as a person? No! Would you want to trust me and buy from me? Probably not!
It establishes authority
For people to trust you, they need to be able to see that you are skilled in what you do, and this is where a content marketing plan can come in very handy. Content includes written posts, videos, images, Facebook posts, etc. All of these are ways to make sure that people stay interested in your page, and also to establish your expertise and show them you know what you’re doing.
It keeps a track record
Many people tell me that they find it very difficult to cater to old and new followers at the same time, but a content marketing plan automatically tackles this problem for you! For example, if newbie internet marketers visit my website, they can go to older blogposts and make use of the basic content. Meanwhile, more advanced users can find content that suits them. My content caters to all of them without me having to move back and forth.
It enables diversity
People get very bored very easily and it is for you to make sure that they don’t. This is where a diverse content marketing plan ensures it keeps people interested in what you are doing. For example, I market my affiliate products but I also write blogposts and sometimes just post fun videos of myself so people know who I am and stay in touch with me!
So yes, please do NOT think making a detailed content marketing plan is not important. It is, and if you need any help, feel free to ask! Good luck!
